How to Remove Pet Hair From a Couch Without Disposable Lint Rollers

If you share your home with a dog or cat, you know the couch is where the fur ends up. Sticky lint rollers help in a pinch, but they're expensive over time and struggle with hair that has worked into the weave. Here's what works better.

1. Use a reusable brush roller first

A reusable roller with a textured brush, like FurFlick, grabs hair out of the fabric with short back-and-forth strokes and stores it in a chamber you empty into the bin. Start here because it lifts embedded hair that a vacuum often skims over.

2. Then vacuum with an upholstery tool

Once the embedded hair is loosened and collected, a quick vacuum picks up dust and dander.

3. Try a damp rubber glove for tight spots

Run a slightly damp rubber glove along seams and between cushions. The hair clumps together so it's easy to pick up.

4. Protect the favourite spot

If your pet has a regular spot, put a washable throw there. Shake it outside and wash it weekly.

5. Brush your pet regularly

The best way to cut down on fur everywhere is to catch it before it falls. A few minutes of brushing several times a week makes a big difference, especially during spring and autumn shedding.

What about leather couches?

Leather doesn't trap hair the same way. A damp microfibre cloth is usually all you need.
